Tips to get a great nights sleep:

  1. Avoid Caffeine
  2. Exercise
  3. Do not eat 3 hours before bed
  4. Avoid red meat 
  5. Avoid Smoking (nicotine is a stimulant, although most people think it is a relaxing thing)
  6. Take a long bath
  7. Read a book
  8. Keep your bedroom cool
  9. Keep your Duvet clean
  10. Buy new pillows
  11. Consider using a mild sleep aid (not medicinal)
  12. Clear your head of work and money
  13. Put your phone on silent
  14. Turn off all the lights in the room, even small LED lights can damage your sleep quality
  15. Avoid thinking too much about how much sleep your getting (see pic, opens in new window) 
  16. Stick to the same side of the bed, continuity helps you relax
  17. Get some earplugs!
  18. Avoid Alcohol - This can destroy your bodies recovery plan overnight
